Retail sales surge 17.7% in May

The U.S. Census Bureau reported May retail sales increasing 17.7 percent from April, when the numbers plummeted amid efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. Results are down 6.1 percent from May 2019. KPMG Senior Economist Ken Kim offers some insights about changing shopping habits and drivers behind the better-than-expected results.
