International Women’s Day (IWD) has been commemorated for more than a century, honoring the social, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. The day also serves as a collective call to action for expanding gender parity.
This year, with its focus on Balance for Better, IWD reiterates the value women bring to every aspect of society and reminds us that diversity is essential to inclusion. It’s also better for business: Research shows that inclusive, diverse teams are more innovative than homogeneous teams and enhance the performance of their companies. As an example, a study conducted by Catalyst found that a 1 percent increase in gender diversity translates into a 3 percent revenue gain, and a 1 percent increase in racial diversity equals a 9 percent increase in revenue.
KPMG is proud of our long-standing commitment to build a more inclusive world: As the founding global lead sponsor of the Women Corporate Directors Foundation, we continue our efforts to increase the number of women on corporate boards, and through programs like the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit and KPMG’s Executive Institute for Women, we’re preparing them for potential C-suite roles.
We are also proud to join our fellow KPMG International member firms in recognizing International Women’s Day. I encourage you to show your support for the women in your life by celebrating with us, and challenging yourself and others to promote #futureisinclusive and #BalanceforBetter.
