Today is the first day of summer, and with it, KPMG is awarding its 30,000 employees a $500 gift card and barbecue package to celebrate the season and thank them for their role in making the firm successful.

Employees will receive a selection of burgers, gourmet franks, filets, boneless chicken breasts and pork chops shipped to their homes in time for the Fourth of July.

The news was announced in a message to employees from Lynne Doughtie, Chairman and CEO, and P. Scott Ozanus, Deputy Chairman and COO, “in appreciation for all of the great things you do.”

Summer gifts are a tradition at KPMG, which is widely recognized for being a great place to work and build a career.

Additional summer perks for all employees include:

  • Weekend jumpstarts which allow employees to leave work at 3 p.m. on Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
  • Summer office parties and other events that bring employees together to celebrate the season.
  • A generous paid time off program to take vacations or extend holiday weekends.

KPMG also has built an internal social media platform for employees to share photos and document their summer activities. Based on the response to similar initiatives in recent summers, several thousand photos will likely be shared.
