Mark Gibson named KPMG U.S. Technology, Media and Telecom national sector leader

SEATTLE, WA, Nov. 12 – KPMG LLP today announced Mark Gibson has been named U.S. Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) National Sector Leader, effective October 1. Gibson will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the practice and will be based in Seattle.

Gibson has been with KPMG for 18 years, serving most recently as the Seattle office managing partner (OMP) since 2011. He also will continue as the Seattle OMP until his successor is named.  He has over 30 years of experience working with companies in the technology, retail and consumer products industries.

Gibson has a deep commitment to KPMG’s values and culture, including a passion for supporting the community. He serves on the boards of Junior Achievement of Washington and the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. Gibson is a former board member of The Seattle Foundation, having served from 2011-2020.

“Mark brings significant leadership and market experience to lead a TMT practice that combines deep technical knowledge with the perspective required to deliver insights to help clients in today’s challenging business environment,” said Tandra Jackson, KPMG Vice Chair of Growth and Strategy.

“As COVID-19 has impacted all TMT companies in one way or another, our TMT team understands the unique requirements of each of our technology, media and telecom clients and is working closely with them on their road to a new reality,” said Gibson. “Environmental, Social and Governance, more commonly known as ‘ESG’, is taking on greater prominence in many companies. The technology industry, perhaps more so than any other sector, has the resources, visibility, and influence in our daily lives to be the leader and catalyst on climate change issues.”

Gibson was admitted to the partnership in 2004. He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an accounting emphasis.

Gibson succeeds Tim Zanni, who retired on September 30 after 32 years of service in technology leadership roles at KPMG in the U.S. including serving as the Global and U.S. Head of the TMT practice for the past four years. Alex Holt has been appointed KPMG Global TMT leader.
